I am pleased to announce that (at long last) the film I have been planning, researching and writing for the last two years has gone into full production.

I am also pleased to announce that the Cardiff basedproduction company, VISUAL INFLUENCE run by DFT graduates Richard Starkey and Chris Britten won the tender battle to produce the film.

Working closely with fellow DFT graduate Paris Palmer, we are casting for actors in London and Cardiff next week, with plans to shot in early February. The shoot will follow the familiar pattern set by such DFT productions as COW, Loserville and Devils vice – namely its crewed in the main by DFT graduates and current students. I will direct.

The film is a Lottery funded film about students that engage with the sex industry whilst studying at University. I have spent the last two years interviewing a wide variety of people who run parts of the industry (lap dancing clubs and massage parlours etc) and also students/graduates who work in a wide variety of roles within that industry. All the interviews were conducted on the basis that the actual footage would not be used in the final film – however I would be able to use their words (with a few modifications to disguise personal details – i.e. their uni, course etc)

Actors will bring to life the interviews and the stories.

I conducted a test shoot in the summer which was set up and run for me by graduate Paris Palmer. With this test complete we are now ready to take on the main bulk of the filming.

I’ll keep the blog up to date with our progress.

Chris
